Board & Rich,
I just wanted to share with you some recent success I had using the program. I have been practicing my freeway driving at night and during the day. I am trying to practice during light traffic and heavy traffic. I am eating the elephant as Rich likes to say..
In any case, there is no easy way to "train" for a 1 hour(2 hours round trip) trip without actually doing it. I had been feeling pretty good about my short trips, but this was 1 hour trip and the return would be at night. Plus I had family in the car and so I was embarrassed that I might have to pull off to get a Coke( and gather myself).
However, I am happy to report that I drove during fairly heavy traffic the entire way there and the return trip with little to no trouble. I got a little nervous going though a small tunnel (both ways) and once at night when the traffic was heavy. I simply applied the Red Sock technique and a few others (R.O.A.D.) and kept on going. My passengers never knew anything was going on and I had a great time. I feel much more confident now and it is tremendously freeing to accomplish such a large goal.
How did I do it? Well, I put in plenty of practice, stopped all my internal dialogue by using positive phrases and I said 2 short prayers.
I am continuing the program and my practice sessions and I WILL beat this with thing by using the FOD program and practice. If I can do it, you can too. I feel great.
