Hi
Just first of all would like to introduce myself by saying hello to everyone.Ive had my licence now for 3yrs i first wanted to pass my test for my mum she was really ill and disabled but she loved shopping. I thought by passing my test we could have fun on shopping trips it took me 6 tests but thinking of my mum it gave me the motivation and the encouragement that i needed to get through it also my hubby was a great help to.By the time i passed my test my mum was in hospital really ill but i drove to the hospital to see her a few times. Then unfortunately she died and driving just didnt seem to mean anything anymore although i was just taking short trips to the shops. Then after a few mths we moved to a diffrent town i didnt drive i was scared of getting lost.so because i didnt drive i sold my car. Then a few mths later my partner went and bought me a renault scenic i love it but i just feel scared of driving it around i have been in it and drove to the shops a cple of times but now i dont. I really want to but just feel scared can anyone give me any good tips on how to overcome this. deexx

Let me start by saying I'm sorry for your loss.
I would imagine that you mom would want you to overcome you're fear, no? So she can STILL be a motivator in your life.
All my tips are in the Driving Fear program, my blog may also be helpful, or some of the free resources here as well.
and welcome.

Hi
and thank you for replying to my post. My hubby is going to check my car over tomorrow and then im going to start. just thinking about it now is making me feel sick and my stomach is rolling over. God why does it have to be so hard you think that once youve passed your test everything is going to be easy and straight forward but it isntI watch my partner how he just gets in any car and will drive all over the place. Then one day last week he bought a new motor and he wanted me to drive from cleveland to derby god i shook in my boots and said no chance.then my sons car is broken and his insurance as ran out so he as asked me to take his children to the hospital with him again i just refused i just cant do this and i feel such a failure.I just hope i can beat this feeling one day.

Every journey has a beginning. Every fight has a first battle. You can win this if you continue to take bay steps. It will happen.
You must be diligent and consistent. Apply Rich's program and I promise it will get better. How do I know this? It worked for me. I was where you are and I can now drive pretty well. We all struggled or are struggling with this, but we are not going to give in. You are courageous for stepping up to this!
Work at it like an exercise routine and be consistent. It does work.
Remember that it may seem bigger than you can deal with but you are "eating the elephant" one bite a time!
You can do it!

Hi
Well my hubby had a look over my car and give it a clean bill of health before going on the road.First of all i cleaned it went and bought some cool hello kitty accessories lol then after that i just sat in it playing with indicators window wipers turning lights on and off starting the engine i felt like a kid with a new toy but sort of nervous as well. The following day i thought it would be good to try and go on a small drive to the local supermarket with my friend and the 3 kidsI was as nervous as hell but i wont allow this feeling i have to beat me.It didnt take me lon :D g to get bk into driving even though i was nervous but i was pleased with myself as i drove there and bk ok.I thought yessss and then tonight my son came down to visit me and my hubby needed to go the shop i offered to go for him and me and my son went in the car and i drove again tonight still nervous but it felt good i hope this is the start of me getting bk into the drivers seat so to speak dee

Congratulations!!!
That is great news! Just like we said earlier, simply take small steps and you can beat this. I really liked what you said about not letting this get the better of you. Be consistent and use the program and you will have success!
Study the program and keep taking baby steps!
