I guess I'm just tired of being made to feel like I'm not normal or like a "freak show" for not driving. I NEED to know that I'm not alone and that there are others out there like me. Is anyone out there?

I'm here - so, you are very definitely not alone! I am tackling overcoming my fear at the grand old age of 64 (though I only admit to being 17 - it was a very good year!) so I do often feel like a right idiot, not only for having my fear, but for talking so long to do anything about it. I have been unfortunate enough to never have been really stuck for transport. There was always someone willing to help out, including my long-suffering husband, but all this only kept me from action.
I love this site - and Rich's programme. It is just so nice to feel a sense of belonging to a community and sharing with and supporting each other.
Just a thought - do we really want to be 'normal' (whatevber that is!)? We don't we just be splendid and wonderful instead!
Wishing you well,
Regards,
Eileen (in Ireland)

You are NOT alone. You may not realize it but you are very courageous to even take on this problem! We have all been where you are and believe us, you can get over this with the program.

Check out this board, use the program and keep us informed on your progress!

We are right here with you!

Your not alone. Look on the bright side, all the people I know can't drive because they have DUI's. I've just never taken the time to learn sounds a lot better. Heck I've known city folk who don't even have a car, let alone drive anywhere they just take the train or the bus. Life just put you in a situation where you have to face your fear, that's all. Whether you do or not is up to you, hey you could always move to city. ;)
