So i'm 25 years old, and i'm a college grad student. I have never had a license in my life, not even a permit.
When I was 16 and wanted to get my license, my stepfather was a bastard and told me he wouldn't let me get one because his insurance would go "sky high"
As I got older I got more anxious and more afraid of driving. My mom used to freak out in the car about getting into an accident a lot of times when I road with her when I was a kid...
When I was 19 I worked at a country club. One day I unexpectedly had to work double shifts and without a break or any time to eat. I was very tired and not paying attention and when I was empty the trash into the dumpster (I drove a golf cart to the dumpsters) and backed the golf cart into the side of a car parked right ontop of the dumpster. I was so ashamed I quit my job that day.
I was already scared to drive before that, and that has just been reinforced, but not driving is ruining my life.
I can't find any jobs within walking distance. My girlfriend broke up with me because she lives an hour 1/2 away and came to see me twice and didn't like that I couldn't return the drive to see her.
I have to lie to everyone that asks about why I don't drive. I usually say I have a suspended license or something...
A lot of people seem to think a 25 year old guy that doesn't drive is a freak, which alienates me even more from people.
I also don't have the money for a car, or anyone who could loan me one. So I have absolutely no motivation.
And lately i'm getting more depressed over this shit, and don't really even want to go out of the house or go to school.
I'm afraid of getting in a car and turning it on and driving it anywhere. I'm espcially afraid to park or be near other cars in other lanes on the highway. I also would have to wear my glasses to drive, which I also greatly dislike.
So basically i'm screwed.
