View Full Version : Can Fear of Driving Program be modified for Fear of Flying?
I developed a fear of flying in my later years. I am 46 years old now, but I used to fly from LAX to Seattle in my 20's and 30's for business with no problems. About 5 years ago, I flew from LAX to Oakland and suffered a severe panic attack! Part of the cause was I flew in a very small commuter jet, and the fact that it made aggressive manuevers that I was not comfortable with. Though the flight was only about 40 minutes, it felt like an eternity. After that, I flew back to LAX in a 737, a jet I was familiar with. But because of my previous flight on the smaller jet, the fear of panic attack was in my mind on the 737.
Can some of the Fear of Driving program be modified for fear of flying?

Fear and anxiety is fear and anxiety. There's things you can do on board a plane that won't work in the car, but everything you can do while driving you can do as a passenger on a plane, so sure. Many clients have used the principles across multiple areas.

Can you list some examples, Rich?

Examples of what other fears people have used the program with? Flying, eating in restaurants, and speaking in front of an audience are the ones that come to mind. I don't really keep track of what the other fears are when clients mention them.
