Hi, greetings from Norway!

In 2008 I started to have problems driving at motorways with my motorbike. A month later I got problems when I drove in a tunnel with a car, then when I got out of the tunnel there was a bridge and the problem was even worse. The problem increased so now I have problems with bridges, motorways, tunnels and some times regular roads both with cars and motorbikes. City-driving is okay.

The problem is a bit hard to explain, I feel dizzy and it feels like I'm going to fall (usually forwards to the left). I also have this unreal feeling.

I'm 42 years old and I have been driving a lot since I got my license 24 years ago. I really like driving, especially with a motorbike, and have made many long trips during the years. After the problems started I have started to drive enduro (motorbike - offroad) to see if it helped to get in better shape, it didn't help but it's fun and I'm in great physical shape now.

As I said my problem is mainly that it feels like I'm falling so I visited a balance-expert and he found some small errors but not much. I have visited him monthly for a year and he tests my balance and gives me some exercises. He can only find small problems and he think it's strange that this can influence my driving.

So right now I hardly drive and when I do it's only short stretches on small roads. For the first time in 16 years I didn't do a motorcycle-trip during the summer-holidays.
As I'm sure most of you know this is a pain, and it nags me 24-7 and it also effects my family and work.

Last weekend I ordered the program and I find it very interesting. I do have some problems with "thought popping". I have my "safe place" but my thoughts doesn't scare me at all. For me this is an exercise where I think off relaxing at a beach in Greece, it's almost like a nice daydream. Maybe this gets better when I get a better grip on the R.O.A.D.-technique it might help me to identify the right feelings.

So right now I spend quite much time to solve this, (1-2 hours daily) but I haven't got far... Is there any way I can tell if my problem is caused by anxiety or vestibular problems?

Dizzy hi,

I am 43 and have been dealing (more now then in the past) with this situation for about 10 years. Highways, wide bridges and the like are very intimidating to me. I hit on the brakes, look in the rearview mirror and cause myself to become disoriented and dizzy and scared. I have identified my phobia is caused by agoraphobia. I become afraid of speed in wide open spaces. I have been doing a lot of work on this and have had ups and downs but general direction in improvement.
