All,
I have been doing very well on my driving especially during the day. However, I have a question regarding the final steps in the program. As I study the program and apply the ROAD techniques, I am confused by the last step of pushing even harder against my feelings. I don't understand in a practical way how to push harder, can someone give me an example or two?

Thanks,
Frank

It's not pushing harder against, more of allowing it to go where it wants to go. So if your fear if your heart beating too fast, let it beat fast. If you fear losing control, quit trying to hold yourself together and let yourself fall apart (it won't happen anyway, but the attempt to control the uncontrollable is at the heart of a lot of the anxiety.

Make sense?

Rich

I apologize, I think I posted this question 2 times.

Rich,

I understand letting it happen and not trying to control it. It is almost a part of the Observe to me. It's like "Wow, that's weird. I feel funny. It will pass, give it a few secs..." for me. If my hands get tingly should I shake them? If my breathing becomes rapid, I take deep breaths, is that correct?

i havent started the program yet and i have been told by my psychiatrist that the only way for me to get through some of my other anxieties is just to let it happen, not to be afraid... i believe thats our problem FEAR, i think once we remove the fear and not worry about the if's and but's we will see it wasn't that bad after all, it wa unpleasent, even a little scary at first but once, twice maybe even three times, you jumped the biggest hurdle and when the sensations start to arise again another time you would be saying to yourself "oh that, yeah whatever can handle that" and probably disregard it and wont even realise it. thats how i look at your question. Hope it helps X
