I would like to hear others thoughts on this. My deal with driving alone, very far from home is that when I get to where I'm going sometimes I am overcome with a feeling of needing to go back home. I think it might be partly a patience issue but probably mainly another damn anxiety issue. I even get this feeling when I just go for a walk down the street, if I feel I'm getting too far away I get panicky. Anybody else experience that?

It's why people sometimes consider their home a "safe place" and they want to escape there so they feel protected. Of course there's nothing about your home that makes it safe and down the street less safe, but since your self talk tells you that you're ok at home, it makes you want to run to it when you feel anxiety. It's common, but also how more sever problems like agoraphobia develop so just remember no place is any more safer than the other!

I know, I am scared to death of becoming completely agoraphobic. That's probably the main thing hindering my progress right now.

Hey Rich,
Can I get a reply on that last post I made about agoraphobia?

I can give you a few thoughts...
You need to know that YOU are the safe place. Have faith and trust in yourself (I know I'm being repetitive). If you FEEL safe at home.. why can't you feel safe anywhere else. It's still you. :)
Doing the ROAD technique when you start feeling panicky, will help bring you back to yourself.
I hope that helps. Hang in there.

you're never going to conquer your fear with more fear, it's like throwing gas on a fire. The only way to ensure you don't become agoraphobic is to not worry if you become agoraphobic. The same techniques in the DFP will help you with the anxiety you feel about that too.

I am exactly the same, I don't know what kind of stupid feeling it is, but anytime when I get far from home and I think it takes me more than 45 mins or even less to get back it makes me stressed out, and believe me sometimes I am really about to cry. this is awful, especially these days because I am kinda new in Dubai where I live now that even gives me worse feelings, sometimes I try to think about my childhood to remember if any kinda bad experience I had while I got far from home but unfortunatlely I don't remember anything about these kind of feelings in my past...
