All,
I have been working with the program now for several months and I am happy to say that I am steadily getting better.
When I started on this I would have anxiety(racing thoughts, stomach upset) before almost ANY freeway driving. I made excuses and missed out on a lot of life, UNTIL NOW.
I drove today on a busy freeway where I live for 1 hour! I drove by the airport and through two major intersecting freeways. When I was done I rewarded myself by taking myself out to breakfast!
Now I don't want knock what I did, but to be clear, I was a little nervous from time to time. In fairly heavy traffic I stayed in the right lane or the middle lane so I could feel that I had a way out. My speed was good and I actually enjoyed it. Every time I got a little anxious, I used the R.O.A.D. technique or breathing etc. and the anxiety eased or the situation changed, either way it worked.
Now I have not been as diligent as I should on the program, maybe 1-2 days week and I am still able to do this! Imagine what I will be able to do if I really buckle down and become more consistent!
I still have my anxious days, but I take them all in stride and actually use them to challenge myself.
I will report more as I progress!!
Rich / Board - Thanks so much!!
